Hiram Johnson High School

The mural depicts the march from Delano to Sacramento in 1966 led by Cesar Chavez & Larry Itliong and Chinese railroad workers completing the Transcontinental Railroad in 1869.

This school has a largely Latinx & Asian student population. This piece acknowledges the history of immigrant populations who’ve shaped and cultivated the local landscapes.  A small color-block landscape as a stylistic nod to Sacramento painters, Wayne Theibaud and Gregory Kondos who celebrated the area’s wide rivers and rolling hills.
